{Blog Series} Boudoir is for EVERYbody – Sharon’s Story

Think you can’t do a sexy boudoir shoot? Think again? See why a boudoir session with VeroLuce Photography changed how Sharon felt about herself and why she decided she needed a confidence boost.

About me: I’m a 33 year old, wife and mother to a beautiful 8 year old girl. I work from home for a Security Company and only have to go into the office maybe once every 3-6 months. You will soon understand why this session made me feel beautiful and look sexy.

1. Why did you decide to take a leap and do a boudoir session?
I was about a month away from my dream wedding in Disney which was planned in a matter of a few months. Married now for a little over a year, but we have been together for over 12 years. You know when you first start dating someone and are with them you make sure you look good. When I first met my husband, I weighed no more than 100lbs and would constantly dress up and wear make-up. Now, 13 years later and almost 40lbs heavier, all he sees is me in sweat pants and a t-shirt with my hair in a ponytail. Keep in mind, I work from home so there is no need for me to dress up to go into work. So I thought, what would be better than giving my husband a gift of me looking sexy that he can look at any time?

2. Did you have any reservations prior to the shoot? If so what were they?
I sure did. First, I was very uncomfortable with my weight since I am petite. Second, I was so nervous on how I would look and if I can even be sexy. I went crazy looking for stuff to wear because as previously noted, I don’t dress up nor do I wear any sexy clothing. If I did find something I like, once I tried it on I said to myself, ” ugh I look fat in this.”  But then again, I was looking at myself in the mirror without make-up and my hair done. After searching for the few days that I had, I finally gave into some lingerie from Victoria’s Secret and ordered (rushed delivery) a football jersey of my husband’s favorite team with my soon to be last name on the back of the jersey. Finally, I despise taking pictures; especially if it’s only me in the photograph. The only way I like to take pictures is with a group of people.

3.Did the experience change you?
Absolutely!!! Never in a million years did I ever think I would have the confidence to ever take these types of pictures, especially how uncomfortable I was with my weight. I felt good and looked sexy. Would I have done anything differently? No. Would I do this again? Hells yeah. I actually plan to once I lose some weight and feel even better about myself. The funny part is I don’t think I’ll be doing it for my husband. I actually believe I will be doing it for ME, but of course I will show my husband.

4.What is was the best part of your experience?
To me it would have to be the finished product and seeing the album that I had made for my husband to give to him on our wedding day. I was so nervous on how the pictures would come out. Although I thought I looked sexy, it doesn’t mean the camera saw the same thing. To my surprise once I saw the pictures I was in love…lol. Then the reaction my husband had was priceless. Since it was only the 3 of us on our wedding day, I had my wedding photographer give my husband his present and when he came back and told me his reaction…that was all I needed to hear.
